Ain't no sunshine when she's gone

Bill Withers' song (of the same title as this post) came on at work today, and it seemed pretty appropriate. My girlfriend left for DC today, she'll be there for a couple of months doing an internship. It'll be the longest we'll be apart, by a week or two, but pretty much our whole relationship has been long-distance, so this'll just be another few weeks for us. I'll be (hopefully) heading out there to visit over the 4th of July, which I imagine the do up pretty well out there. And, I figure there are about 4 ballparks that aren't too far, a nice little train or bus trip for a few, so maybe I'll be able to catch at least one game, probably in Washington.

I'm taking things alright today, I stayed busy enough at work to kind of keep my mind off of it, we'll just see how the next few days go. After that, it'll be going a lot smoother. I already miss the hell out of her, but I know I'll manage. We've been through this before.

In other news, my dad has talked me into doing the Bix 7 road race this year. For those of you unfamiliar, that's a 7 mile run through the streets of Davenport, IA, starting off with about a mile long climb up Brady Street hill. And, from what I hear, it ends with a bunch of free food and free beer. All I need to worry about is finishing. I'll occasionally post my training updates, assuming I actually train. I'm in no shape to make it 7 miles, even if we're only walking it.
